Sexology Down Under ("we", "us", "our") provides sexology and intimacy counselling online across Australia, and sells intimate wellness products through our online shop. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address and phone number when you send an enquiry, book a session, join our mailing list or place an order.
- Enquiry and booking details: what you tell us in a form message or when choosing a session time.
- Health and sensitive information: information about your sexual health, relationships, wellbeing or sexuality that you share before or during sessions. We only collect this with your consent and only where it is needed to provide our services.
- Order details: the products you buy and your delivery name and address. Card and bank details are entered with PayPal and are never seen or stored by us.
- Technical information: basic information your browser sends when you visit, such as IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider uses to deliver and secure the site.
You can contact us anonymously or under a pseudonym for general questions. We will need your real details to provide counselling sessions or to deliver an order.
How we use your information
- to reply to enquiries and arrange sessions;
- to provide counselling and keep the clinical notes our professional obligations require;
- to process, pack and ship orders and handle returns;
- to send our occasional newsletter if you sign up for it (ask us any time and we will take you off the list);
- to meet our legal, professional and insurance obligations.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your health information for marketing.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run this website and our services:
- Web3Forms delivers messages sent through our contact and newsletter forms to our inbox.
- LeadConnector (GoHighLevel) runs our online booking calendar and stores the details you enter when booking.
- PayPal processes shop payments, including card payments, under its own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and protects it from attacks.
- Australia Post receives your name and delivery address to deliver orders.
Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to the APPs. Otherwise, we only disclose your information where you have consented, or where we are required or authorised by law, for example where there is a serious risk to someone's life, health or safety.
Cookies and browser storage
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser stores a small amount of information so the site works: the items in your shopping cart and the fact that you have confirmed you are 18 or over. If you have been given a shop preview PIN, a cookie remembers it for 30 days. Our booking calendar and PayPal checkout are provided by those services and may set their own cookies.
How we store and protect your information
We keep personal information in password protected systems with access limited to the people who need it. Clinical notes are kept confidential and retained for as long as our professional and legal obligations require, then securely destroyed. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. We will respond within 30 days. In limited cases the law allows us to refuse access, and if so we will explain why.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner on 1300 363 992.
