SEXOLOGY DOWN UNDER

Our framework

Our Approach

The Sexual Health Model, and why every session is built on it.

Every session at Sexology Down Under is built on the Sexual Health Model, a framework with ten components covering the things that shape a person’s sexual life: how you talk about sex, how you feel about your body, what you believe, who you are and who you are with.

It gives the work a structure. Rather than circling a problem for weeks, we can name which component it sits in and start there. Sessions run online via Zoom and Google Meet with Nina Rose Pardo, anywhere in Australia.

The Components of the Sexual Health Model

Talking About Sex

Most people have never had a frank, unembarrassed conversation about sex, including with the person they are having it with. This is where you build the vocabulary and the confidence to say what you want, what you do not, and what you are unsure about.

Culture, Gender, and Sexual Identity

Where you grew up, how you were raised and who you are attracted to all shape what you believe sex is for. We look at those beliefs directly, keep the ones that serve you and let go of the ones that do not.

Sexual Anatomy and Functioning

How your body works, what it responds to and what gets in the way. Plain information, without euphemism, about arousal, orgasm, pain and the things nobody explained at school.

Sexual Health Care and Safer Sex

Testing, contraception, safer sex and managing an existing condition. Practical, current and free of judgement.

Challenges and Barriers to Sexual Health

Trauma, mental health, medication, compulsive habits. Whatever is standing between you and the sex life you want gets named here and worked on, or referred on if it needs someone else.

Body Image

It is hard to enjoy your body while you are busy judging it. This component works on how you see yourself, in and out of the bedroom.

Masturbation and Fantasy

Solo sex and fantasy are how most people learn what they like. Here they are treated as useful information rather than something to be embarrassed about.

Positive Sexuality

Sex that is about pleasure and connection rather than performance or a finish line. We work out what that looks like for you, not what it looks like in general.

Intimacy and Relationships

Desire, communication, trust and the negotiations every relationship runs on. For couples, this is usually where most of the work happens.

Spirituality

For many people, faith or personal values and sexuality pull in different directions. This component is about finding a way for them to sit together, on your terms.

The model is a map, not a script. Some clients spend all their time in one or two components; others move across several. If you want to find out where you would start, book a first session.
